Solivita opens The Cypress at Stonegate Golf Club

February 02, 2006

Golfers now have 18 more reasons to love the Stonegate Golf Club at Solivita.

The award-winning active-adult community in Poinciana just opened The Cypress, its second 18-hole championship course.

The 6,800-yard, par 72 course, originally designed by Joe Lee and recently modified by local golf course architect George Clifton, boasts five sets of tee boxes on most holes and is characterized by numerous lakes and water features as it meanders through stands of cypress and other natural features indigenous to Florida.

The Cypress joins The Oaks, a 7,000-yard, par 72 course designed by Ron Garl that is punctuated by century-old oak hammocks, mature hardwoods, lakes and natural wetlands. For the past five years The Oaks has hosted the annual Avatar-Solivita Charity Golf Tournament whose net proceeds have benefited local charities and community organizations.

A development of Avatar Properties Inc., Solivita is located within Poinciana, a 47,000-acre master-planned community in northwest Osceola and northeast Polk counties.
